Should I take this gummy with food?

No, you don't need to. We formulated organic avocado oil into every gummy to provide the fat that vitamins D3 and K2 need for optimal absorption. Take it whenever is most convenient for you.

Can I take more than one gummy per day?

These gummies are formulated as a once-daily supplement. We do not recommend exceeding one per day without guidance from your healthcare provider. If you have a diagnosed vitamin D deficiency requiring a higher dose, consult your doctor.

Can I take this if I'm on blood thinners or warfarin?

Does vitamin D3 interact with any medications?

Vitamin D3 can interact with thiazide diuretics, corticosteroids, orlistat, and bile acid sequestrants. If you take any prescription medications, ask your pharmacist to review your full medication list before starting any new supplement.

How long does it take for D3+K2 to work?

Blood vitamin D levels typically rise within 2–4 weeks and plateau around 8–12 weeks of consistent daily use. Energy and mood improvements are often noticed within 4–8 weeks. Bone health benefits from K2 develop over months.

Can children take these gummies?

These gummies are formulated for adults. 2,500 IU per day may exceed pediatric dosing recommendations. Consult a pediatrician before giving these to a child.

Is it safe to take D3+K2 during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Vitamin D is important during pregnancy and breastfeeding, but individual needs vary and your prenatal vitamin may already contain D3. Consult your OB-GYN or midwife before adding this supplement to your routine.

Is 2,500 IU of vitamin D3 a safe daily dose?

Yes. 2,500 IU is a safe daily maintenance dose for most healthy adults. The NIH Tolerable Upper Intake Level is 4,000 IU per day. If you have a medical condition or take medications affecting calcium or vitamin D, consult your healthcare provider.

Why do I need vitamin K2 with vitamin D3?

Vitamin D3 increases calcium absorption, but without K2, that calcium can deposit in arteries instead of bones. Vitamin K2 (as MK-7) activates proteins that direct calcium into bone and keep it out of blood vessels. Taking D3 and K2 together supports both bone density and cardiovascular health.

What is the difference between MK-7 and MK-4 vitamin K2?

MK-7 stays active in the bloodstream for up to 72 hours after a single dose. MK-4 clears within a few hours. MK-7 is significantly more effective for once-daily supplementation and better supported by research. Vitamin Hive uses 100 mcg of MK-7.

Where does the vitamin D3 come from?

Lichen, a plant organism. Most D3 supplements use lanolin from sheep's wool. Lichen-sourced D3 is chemically identical but plant-derived, making it suitable for vegetarians. Potency confirmed at 69.30 mcg per serving by third-party testing.

Are these gummies vegan?

Vegetarian, not vegan. The formula contains genuine Manuka honey. The D3 is from lichen (not sheep's wool) and the gummy base is pectin (not gelatin). All other ingredients are plant-derived.

Are the gummies gluten-free?

Yes. Gluten-free, dairy-free. No eggs, wheat, tree nuts, peanuts, sesame, or shellfish. Contains honey. 

Is this product kosher or halal?

Several ingredients hold individual certifications (Manuka honey is Kosher certified; malic acid is FCC Kosher grade). The finished product does not currently hold a whole-product Kosher or Halal certification. There is no pork gelatin, we use plant-based pectin. Contact us for documentation.

Why don't you make a sugar-free version?

Sugar alcohols cause GI discomfort with daily use. Artificial sweeteners are increasingly scrutinized. We use modest amounts of Manuka honey and organic coconut sugar, real food sweeteners without those trade-offs. (Read related blog post for more information)

Are these gummies third-party tested?

Yes, every batch. Tested by an ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited third-party facility for potency, heavy metals (arsenic, cadmium, lead, mercury), and microbiological safety (E. coli, Salmonella, Staph aureus, yeast, mold). Are your ingredients non-GMO?

Each ingredient supplier has provided non-GMO documentation. The finished product does not currently hold a Non-GMO Project Verified certification for the complete formula. Supplier non-GMO statements are available on request.
